13_Miah_BrooksPresident: Miah Brooks

Currently a senior at Monroe Career and Technical Institute, Miah has a future goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, and plans to enroll in the United States Naval Nurse Corps. In her free time she enjoys playing volleyball and competing in academic events. Miah started her HOSA journey serving as her local chapter Vice President for the 2012-2013 school year and now serves as her local Chapter President. She is ready to serve Pennsylvania HOSA, and is prepared to take on any challenges that will help mold her and fellow HOSA members into the best future Health Professionals they can be. Miah’s favorite quote is “Life isn’t about finding yourself, it’s about creating yourself”, by George Bernard. This quote is important to her because she believes that only you are the beholder of your future.

13_Sydney_ShermanVice President: Sydney Sherman

Sydney is a junior at Archbishop Wood High School. She looks forward to pursuing her interests of horses and medicine with a career in Equine surgery. Sydney enjoys playing the violin and piano, riding her horses, swimming, playing tennis, raising Seeing Eye puppies, and participating in 4-H. One of her favorite quotes is, “Life is like a coin; you can spend it any way you want, but you can only spend it once.” ~ Lillian Dickson

13_Lyndsey_WasserSecretary: Lyndsey Wasser

Lyndsey, a senior at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, has been a member of HOSA for 3 years. She plans on continuing her education in the field of Nursing. Lyndsey is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. One of Lyndsey’s favorite quotes is by Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Lyndsey feels that nursing will allow her to be a change in the world by helping and inspiring others.

13_Mayra_SanchezHistorian: Mayra Sanchez

As the Pennsylvania HOSA Historian attending TCHS Pickering, Mayra plans to help members become committed to HOSA. She volunteers at the Southeastern PA Veterans Center assisting veterans to reach their highest potential. She loves to be active and starts her day with Zumba, Aerobics, and Pilates. Her goal is to become a Pediatric Dermatologist. The quote by Helen Keller, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched; they must be felt with the heart”, is something that really touched Mayra’s heart when she first read it. She tries to live by that ideal to attain what she truly wants to be in life.

13_Chris_QuagliaCentral Region Vice President: Chris Quaglia

Chris is a junior at Archbishop Wood High School. He aspires to be a Trauma Surgeon. His interests include helping people, being down at the shore, spending time with family and friends, and engaging sports especially golf, volleyball, and triathlons. His multilingual skills include speaking Polish fluently and Italian partially. The inspirational Bob Marley once said, “The greatness of a man is not in how much wealth he acquires, but in his integrity and his ability to affect those around him positively. Chris finds this quote stimulating because he tries to make a difference in people’s lives around him.

13_Maura_OSheaEastern Region Vice President: Maura O’Shea

Maura O’Shea is a senior at State College Area High School and plans to receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This is her third year involved with HOSA. She is President of her local HOSA chapter and enjoys playing clarinet and singing. Her favorite quote is “Nothing is impossible, the word itself says ‘I’m possible’!” by Audrey Hepburn.

One of Kristina’s favorite quotes is by Jamie Paolinetti. “Limitations live only in our minds but if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.” This quote is meaningful as it serves as a catalyst for her career goal. Kristina, a senior at Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, is focused on becoming a registered nurse. She demonstrates this desire in her sincere interest in caring for others. Her commitment to HOSA is evident through her service as local chapter secretary, vice president, and now serving as PENN HOSA Western Region Vice President.
